In my on going time and routine, my son Connar and I go out to breakfast on Saturday mornings. Just the two guys as it were – after a week of him spending a large amount of time with his Mom and sister. It’s a great time for us to just sit and talk about all things Connar – you know, what he is into – with out all the shiny objects that would distract him at home.

This weeks meeting of the men was held at Eastside Diner – just in the shadows of the WSU ice sheet. Now, if your going there and you have to take a double take – yes this place has been about 100 different establishments. However, I think the diner suits the place the best. It’s and American Asian Diner – and there is normal hodgepodge in a asian buffett – from the plug in picture frame that doesn’t work – to the red dragon’s and accent paint.

Connar got what he normally gets – “Pancakes – Dad, I want pancakes”

On the date of our visit, May 1st – this was the day after the Utah Jazz had just closed out the first round with the Denver Nuggets and our waiter was wearing a Utah Jazz t-shirt and he was regaling how he was there, yelling and scream – that’s why his voice was so horse. Followed, by stories to the regular’s (that we could assume) that he was from California and just helping his friend out who owned this place.

I had a great advantage to see in the kitchen. This kitchen was very clean, and very well planned out. There was only room for one cook at the grill – so he had an assistant. And they had the meals planned out to the very detail. What his assistant would do is, look at the ticket and place the ingredients needed to make the dish out – now never mind that the raw bacon touched the same plate he used to plate the cooked – cross contamination aside – the kitchen worked efficiently and orders were flying out. And every 4 to 6 minutes the bell would ring – and the waitress and waiter serving the 15 table diner would ask each other, “is this your table or mine”?

The portions were excellent – the service staff was very kind and pleasant. The total cost of breakfast was $18.

I would recommend this place – note if your not bothered by the cross contamination. :D

Do you have a favorite place where you get breakfast and would like Marinate Me Baby staff try? We would love to hear from you. Join the discussion below by leaving a comment/post!
