What can I say about the PIE? It has got to be my favorite pizza place of all times. Now, I have had pizza from those franchises in the red hut and the board game with dots. However, this has them beat hands down. Come on the motto is: “We stack it high at The Pie”!
My wife believes they should put more sauce on the pizza’s. However, the toppings are fresh cut vegetables and the highest quality meat and a cheese blend made from 100% whole milk mozzarella, parmesan and Romano. And as the menu describes, it takes a little longer to cook, but the thing is so good.
Now the Pie’s Combo is a Specialty Pie – toppings are extremely generous – Pepperoni, Smoked Ham, Genoa Salami, Fresh Mushrooms, Onions, Green Peppers, Italian Sausage, Linquica Sausage and Ground Beef. The 16″ is called the ‘Super Large’ and you get 8 super large slices out of it. So large, I can only eat two slices and I am completely stuffed, and have to waddle out of the establishment.
They have a location down in Salt Lake just off of the University of Utah’s campus. It is in the basement of a building under a pharmacy. The place has local bands playing there every Friday and Saturday night. The Ogden location was just established a few years ago. However, it holds the same great pizza – it just has windows. If you are ever in Ogden or Salt Lake – You must go here at least once.
You can feed a small army with the 23″ pizza. One thing the PIE prides itself on is the availability of Draft Beer. They offer a healthy selection of Imports, National Domestic and even Local Domestic brands. You can even get growlers of Ice Cold Beer — To Go. Yes, this is Utah and yes they did this before the Olympics.
While we do not drink, these folks do. And by the support of the local fraternities at Weber State University – the students love them too. I would liken the atmosphere to that of a Good Sports Bar with great food. Again, this is a repeater as it is my favorite place to get pizza.

Sorry to have to disagree with you but I would have to say this is a GREAT PIZZA PLACE with a good sports bar undertone (but that’s only cause I’m a smart alec and for the most part agree with everything you have written) – I will add that being from a family who grew up in Chicago, having eaten at every good, bad, ugly, and WONDERFUL pizza place one can eat across the nation from Illinois, through Iowa all the way out to UTAH, The Pie is in the top ten … if not top five on my list of best pizzas. The staff is fun and helpful, and they encourage you to be inventive, creative, and adventurous. I even had one promise that if I didn’t like the combo pie that I was ordering (cause I wasn’t so sure) that they would get me a “more boring” pie that I would like better (that really made me chuckle). I’ve settled on “The Wise-Guy” Pie as my go to pie in this place. I’ve worked for numerous pizza chains in my life and I know how hard good crust can be to make consistently, and these folks have it figure out. The one time I called to complain about a pie that seemed substandard to my expectations the staff ( I don’t even think it was a manager) almost tripped over themselves making sure I understood that they were sorry and that wasn’t acceptable and please come back in and they will “make it right” . … I’m eating according to a “gotta get healthier” plan currently but this is one place I am looking forward to eating when I either need a cheat day or when I reach my goals and can integrate some of the fun food back into my food regiment!
First of Thank you for participating in the discussion!
I agree – crust is a big thing in pizza and this place is great! They used to run a special called the “Godfather” that had a spicy sausage and green olives … that stuff was amazing.
But, they run it on popularity and of course there are only a few of us that like tasty non boring food! I hope you will be a regular reader of the content – your welcome anytime.
