Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 3/4 cup chopped onion
- 2 tablespoon salad or olive oil
- 1 lb can of tomatoes (San Marzano)
- 2 – 6 oz cans tomato paste
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves
- 1/2 – 8 oz package lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ricotta cheese
- 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Method:
- In a large, heavy skillet lightly brown your beef and onion in your oil. Add your tomatoes, be sure to either put through your blender or cut with a spoon to break up the tomatoes.
- Add your tomato paste and wine, let this cook for about 3-4 minutes to allow the wine to release the tomato’s flavors.
- Then add your water, parsley, salt, sugar, garlic powder, pepper and oregano. Simmer, uncovered and stirring occasionally for about 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook your pasta according to the directions on the box.
- In a 13x9x2 inch baking pan, spread about 1 cup of sauce. Then alternate layers of lasagna, sauce, Ricotta, Mozzarella, and Parmesan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes until lightly browned and bubbling. Allow to stand 15 minutes; cut in squares to serve.
